They are moving here because 1) it's cheaper 2) the weather is nicer 3) their companies are moving here 4) "it sure beats the traffic in ___(insert any northern city here)___"

I have personally seen a good amount of folks coming in from out west, not all of our transplants are northerners.

We certainly have more jobs here than we did 10 years ago. With the people come the jobs, hopefully.

You can also have more opportunities as long as business growth keeps up with human growth. That doesn't seem to be the case here in Chucktown as we are lagging behind in schools, retail, services, etc. On the bright side, tech is doing wonderfully as is heath care.
There will be more job opportunities in absolute numbers, at least in the most basic industries that support population growth in general (e.g., retail, restaurants, construction, healthcare, etc). In terms of competition for jobs, that depends on a couple of different factors with two of the most important being the demographics driving population growth and where much of the growth is occurring.
