After you get over the hectic settling in process, we expect you as an academic, to start wondering what its about.
You may have already had coffee at the bookstore in Beaufort (Firehouse Books and Expresso).
Maybe you have already been to the visitors center and picked up a bunch of brochures and flyers and walked along the waterfront.
Ask the librarian at the nearby library about Pat Conroy novels and movies and other local lore and history.
After a while it will all start to make sense. You will look beyond the tourists and visitors from Hilton Head who will only see some pretty fishing boats and a lot of tidal marshes.
You will eventually get into the rhythms and you will uncover layer after layer of a place that can inform and even inspire your everyday life.
