Follow! Follow! Rangers have an awkward 3 years ahead of them but will prevail in the end.

This decision will burn the SPL financially. Celtic will mean nothing now. An interesting 3 years in Scottish football for sure.

It isn't over yet.

Following the realization by SPL teams that 25% - 50% of them could be in administration by Xmas, the SPL is meeting next week to consider next steps.

SPL2 is one idea that the SPL and the SFA have floated. However, the SFL do not appear ready to accept this and especially as they are very angry at the way they feel they have been treated by the SFA/SPL. Right now, it looks like a non-starter.

So, as the TV money, prize money and sponsorship money slips away, what are the SPL to do?

Well, according to one journalist:

Charles Paterson @charlesp_sky
SSN sources understand the issue of the possible re-admittance of "Rangers"/Rangers newco into the SPL will also be on the agenda of SPL Meeting Monday

Really, you couldn't make this stuff up. This mess has been mishandled from the very beginning.

As journalist Jim Traynor said ....

"The big mistake made by the SPL clubs was to pander to allow supporters to dictate. When cold, calculating business minds were required we ended up with fans allowing hearts to rule their heads."

In other words, they put hatred of Rangers above love of their own teams and were willing to risk oblivion to 'punish' Rangers.

BS, Rangers broke the rules and got an unfair advantage over other teams by not paying their bills. They need to be punished by the letter of the law as other clubs have done so in the past. It was the correct decision to make.

Rangers, eh? I'd say it was Whyte and Murray. There's been worse than cooked books in the SPL in years past.

Won't relegating them be bad for the already troubled SPL? Celtic will have no competition at all.

Rangers were Whyte and Murray. You can separate the partnership to suit your loyalty to a club or whenever you feel like it.

Rangers were punished. They were docked 10 points for going into Administration and fined by the SFA.

Reports from Scotland suggest that 5 SPL teams could go into Administration by Xmas. Presumably they will have to be punished too as, by definition, they will not be able to pay their bills.

Maybe the SPL will have to be cancelled as half the teams will be bust.

Oh so because its Rangers they should be able to do as they please and get punished to the min.

Let them overspend and have a huge unfair advantage over most teams for years then hell just let them go into liquidation and start from scratch.

Screw the rest of the teams that pay their bills the hard way.

They were punished under the rules that were in place and that apply to all clubs. An attempt to apply a punishment that was not in the rules was thrown out by the Court of Session.

If other clubs go into administration then. presumably, they have also over spent or at least been guilty of financial mismanagement. They too will be punished under the rules in place.

It is quite simple really.
