He bottles it at major tournaments though. Thats a big deal. He was poor. His first game he was poor too. He is a class player but if he is going to bottle it for his country then he shouldn't start. Simple.

He bottles it which is a big deal. He doesn't deserve a starting place if he is not going to do anything when he is on the pitch. Oh and the ball he got to score his goal was as good a cross as Xavi's or anyone else's.

Maradonna is a fat junkie, Rooney hasnt had a tournament worthy of building him a statue. It may take one tournament to have a good tournament but that does not mean hes an international superstar by any stretch.

Ronaldo didnt underperform at national level. Ronaldo played well at euro 2004. He did okay at world cup 2006. He got three man of match in world cup 2010. even in euro 2008 he scored once and got one man of match. by contrast rooney has done nothing. How many times rooney was declared man of match in Euro cup or world cup? how many goals Rooney scored in euro cup or world cup?

Hey man, Carrol was a bargain! To be fair though, between the two no matter who you start for England you'll get the same amount of goals =)

Rooney never delivers at major tournaments. It's always excuse after excuse. At least Michael Owen scored a goal to remember forever.

No I am not wrong. Rooney does not perform at international level. FACT.

I would start Defoe out of any of them. He always scores for England.

So by your thinking Messi isn't world class either lol. Rooney would stroll into any team, how can even a world class striker score goals when their team is sitting back and defending and really just a poor side if you put them up against the worlds best.

I never said Rooney was not world class. I dont think he is world class but thats just me. Rooney could not walk into any team because he couldn't play the style of play every other teams play. How could he walk into the Barca or Madrid line up or even the German line up. He could get into the Spain squad now but only because Torres is not playing well.
