Seattle is often forgotten about. It has a lot to do where it is on the map. Do not forget, Seattle is further north than Portland, Maine or Nova Scotia for that matter. Seattle has a huge manufacturing industry with Boeing, Kenworth and high-tech industry with Microsoft, Amazon and Nintendo. Also, don't forget the strong retail headquarters of Costco and Nordstrom.

Atlanta is known as the "Big Apple of the South". Certainly one can say that Atlanta (and Houston) are in a bigger league than Seattle in size & commerce. Seattle is best compared to Denver and Minneapolis. Portland, OR is not in the same league as Seattle. I hate to hear Portland being compared to Seattle. You can't compare the two outside "liberals and the environment".

This is so true. I must admit, I never thought about Seattle (unless someone specifically mentioned it in regard to Nirvana, or if the movie "Singles" came on). But when I came up here for the first time I was amazed. I think its remote location has allowed the city to retain a lot of what makes it beautiful and charming. If access were easier the growth would be crazy-crazy as opposed to just sort of crazy.
