So which one is Madison Park: The area with the actual beach park in it, or the area up near Cafe Flora?

The area where Cafe Flora is is the Madison Valley...Madison Park is where the beach is and the Attic Alehouse...Madison Valley is somewhat pricey, tempered by it's border with the Central District, and Madison Park is insanely expensive.

Reading this thread, I found lots of suggestions. I'm wondering now, to narrow down my search, which places would be affordable for me. I will be working mainly in downtown, so don't want a long commute, under an hour would be ideal. Also, if light rail is an option, that could work too.
Price range for a place: In the $1200 to $1500 range, 2 BR/2BA. Is that even a possibility?! I don't know, just starting my research.
Thanks for any info you can provide

Depending on where you work, you MAY be able to buy a bus/train pass at a discounted rate (employer subsidized). My pass is good for Sound Transit, Metro and the lightrail, and my employer a significant amount of the full charge. Your employer may cover all or some too; especially given the governmental push to carpool/walk/ride etc to/from work.

I did notice that MOST of the places listed were in north/east Seattle area. I happen to live in the South side of Seattle, and here the rents are a bit less than other parts of the Greater Seattle area. Plenty of coffeehouses (chain and owner/managed), restaurants, etc like most of the rest of the places listed.

just my 2 cents

No, you haven't missed anything. There used to be a Thai restaurant in Columbia City proper, and there's one scheduled to open soon at 4909 Rainier, but for now you either need to go to Martin Luther King and Rainier, near the Mount Baker light rail stop ( Thai Recipe, it's good) or Thai Palms @ 6715 Martin Luther King ( also good).
