Paris, Disorder and homeless.

People need to travel more (and not stick to Tourist traps) before they try and compare their city with others.

Edit: Also, from here (http://www.time.com/time/europe/magazine/2003/0210/homeless/story.html - broken link):

"That Europe's homelessness problem is roughly the same as America's is a shock. After all, Europe sees itself as more socially responsible than the U.S. "

I completely agree with your statement. I'm sure DC is nice when looking at the White House and not hanging in Berry Farm.

As for the OP's article, I feel terrible for Caudill. At least he can pick up a home for $10k.

True story: My sister and her husband lived in DC for about 3 years. She said there was an ice cream truck that would come by the neighborhood a few times a month, and she saw drug deals go down out in broad daylight. People would walk up to the truck, money would be handed to the guy and bags of something were handed back to the customer.

Moral of the story: if you're walking around Seattle alone at 2:00 am, you might get into a fight... No, really?

In other breaking news: people in Vermont report seeing snow in December.

Further: It's hot in Phoenix, Arizona in July.

Where on Earth can you go and be in a major city (or even a suburb for that matter) and not have a good possibility of getting assaulted at 2 oclock in the morning?

And Detriot? Are you kidding me?

Anyway, I grew up in Elizabeth, NJ, and Seattle's "ghettoes" don't scare me in the least. In the end, I'll just do in Seattle LEGALLY what I did in Jersey illegally for so long:

The Seattle Times: Local News: State's concealed-weapons law among nation's most relaxed

Let some punk bother this law-abiding citizen, and he'll be given to the count of two to run like a cheap pair of stockings or else...

Gun Control means being able to hit the target!...unlike the People's Republic of New Jersey, where only the criminals or the racist state troopers are allowed the tools of self defense.
