Hi all,

I'm a 21-year old moving to Seattle in June, and I've been told that there are far more single men than single women. Is that accurate?

Thank you

I think that's accurate all over the country.

I'm a single guy and my dating life is much better in Seattle than it was in San Jose, CA.

SJ is so oversaturated with single dudes it's not even funny. It was called "Man Jose" by many people that's how bad it was!

I think any city with a primarily tech based economy will have a higher single man to single woman ratio than other places. Let's face it, the tech sector is dominated by men. In our IT shop the ratio is at least 5 to 1.

That was the problem in San Jose. All those engineering types (who all make really good money by the way) still can't get a date on Saturday night.

Yes, more men here than women in most age ranges. Some of the men here are also kinda beat down into metro sexual men or guys that basically wear their trousers with a zipper on the side rather than the front after several years in a "Seattle, politically correct Marriage". You see them often in the City of Seattle and the eastside of King County and drive Volvo's and the Toyota Prius.

Frankly, the Western US has more men than women in the major metro area's. That ratio changes on the eastern seaboard of the US where women outnumber men for a variety of reasons. Go to the east coast if the ratio is what you're after.

This post reminded me of a map I saw in National Geographic a year or two ago, and managed to track down again (google images is amazing!):

http://joeydevilla.com/wordpress/wp-...ingles-map.jpg

The split is pretty extreme throughout the country. Everywhere west of the Mississippi is, with few exceptions, littered with tons of single males. Seattle, hidden under the giant blue dot in the upper left, is no exception. East of the Mississippi, exact opposite. Hmmm...

Seems the Northeast is the place to be for single menz!

Interesting. Let me just point out that even if there are more single men, that doesn't mean there are alot of "date-able" men. Because I sure have a hard time finding one that I would be with around here.

Wanna,
Perhaps its your attitude and not the "dateable men" here. You might try an adjustment and be surprised...

You're probably right...I have to admit I'm a little picky. I think there's other reasons to why it seems to me that there are more women than men too.

Anyway, didn't mean to imply that Seattle men are not worth dating. I'm sure most are good catches.
