I'll chime in on this one. For those of us that were able to purchase their homes in nice neighborhoods back in the day when homes were more affordable, it's evident that with the influx of money and good jobs coming into Seattle, my neighborhood is much nicer then it was back in the day. What I mean by that is when my wife and I go for a walk around the block, homes are well landscaped, fresh coats of paint, nice roofs etc. Even neighborhoods that were once run down have had the old ramblers torn down and replaced with 750K "new box homes" and those areas have improved as well.

Do I feel sorry for the young kids who can't even dream of owning a home in Seattle? Heck yes. That really is tragic. I consider myself very lucky cause there is no way I could afford to rebuy the home that I now live in.

I am sorry, KOMO was correct. Seattle is dying in its tracks. It is a shame.

Eric Johnson and KOMO are spot on, man. It's a crying shame, too.

Went and got takeout very tasty Bun Cha with my daughter at Othello Station area (the real Little Vietnam) today. I actually really like this area, right on the light rail, very diverse. All kinds of little shops, restaurants. We took our food over and sat on the grass under a tree on the south side of Seward Park, looking smack at Mt. Rainier across Lake Washington. Beautiful day.

Today would have been a perfect day to test drive my new COVID paddle board that has been waiting to be unpacked over the recent cold & rainy weeks. Alas we are in prep mode today - the first-born child is embarking on a long solo road trip early in the morning. Maybe tomorrow if the weather holds...

I love that in Seattle, within 5-15 minutes of leaving my house, I can be on Lake Washington, or Lake Union, or Elliot Bay, or Green Lake - bodies of water all with distinct flavors.

The paddle board is a stop gap. Since the kids elected to finish high school here, we have gotten our boating licenses and I'm pestering DH to buy our own boat...

What kind of losers go to the "What do you love about Seattle" thread, and complain about Seattle? Like, you lose credibility when I see that you can't even follow basic thread instructions. So I'm supposed to trust your opinion about a place that I live and you don't.

Check back with me in a year so we can check how your real estate prediction is going. So I can understand, are you saying that our local real estate will depreciate 10 times more than other cities in the country? So, if Boston reduced value like 5%, we would lose 50% of our value. Pretty sure that isn't going to happen.

I just discovered a wonderful 8-mile out-and-back jogging trail from downtown to Smith Cove via the Elliot Bay Trail. I love that I’m discovering new jogging routes in every direction from downtown/Denny Triangle.

I am perplexed by the Seattle-haters and why they are so obsessed with our local politics, especially when many (I suspect) don’t even live in Seattle. Even though they don’t live in Seattle, Seattle is living in their heads, rent free. Bizarre.

In the spirit of this thread, I’ll complete the I love Seattle sandwich and end with another aspect of Seattle I love: summer nights. We have easily the most beautiful and comfortable summer nights in the world. A photo for all of us who love our little Emerald City:

I was raised in a flat place (Miami) and have always loved the hills of Seattle: the beautiful views, contours and perspectives they provide. Makes for some good, challenging bike riding too.
