So my question is pretty specific. I found a place that is within my budget and seems like a good fit for me and my fiancee. It's at the southern border of Shoreline near Bothell Way/Lake City Way and near Acacia Memorial Park. Is this area generally safe or not? She'll be commuting to work by car and I'll be a grad student at UW taking the bus to and from campus.

I'd greatly appreciate any description of this area!

Generally safe, yes. Especially nice, probably not. I used to drive through there all the time when I lived in Kenmore. That's really close to Lake Forest Park, which is a nice area. Is it an apartment building on 145th, or Bothell-Lake City Wy?

Bothell-Lake City Wy just above 145th. I just want to know the vibes of the area and if there's any safety concerns for if my fiancee went out to take the dog for a walk and such? Is it quiet and residential or are there drifters/shady people walking about? The apartment is on Bothell right across from the Memorial Park.

North of that area is a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. South of 145th you have a lot of low income apartment buildings and 33rd Ave NE and it isn't as nice.

If you are north of 150th you're in an okay area

The residential area behind (to the east of) those apartments is very nice. If your fiancee is walking the dog, have her stay in that area if there is access to it from the apartment building. I believe you are technically within the city limits of lake Forest Park at that location.

eta: it appears there is a gate on the NE 148th St. side of the complex >click here for Google image. If that is the complex; I believe there is another apartment complex just north of that one pictured. If it's that complex, there appears to be a driveway on the eastside parking lot on the 37th AV NE side >click here for the Google image.

I think you and your fiancee would be fine in that location. It's far enough north that I think you'd be away from the riff raff. It's basically Lake Forest Park, which is lovely. Also on a ridge with many water view homes/condos.

And like I said, it's safe. Just a little grimy. I always saw lots of graffiti on the fences and buildings along 145th, which is the boundary for Shoreline vs. Lake City (Seattle city limits).
