Hello! I'm a Fl native, residing in NY the last 3 years...needless to say, I wanna come home!!!! I'm from Orlando and since I've got the chance to move somewhere else, I couldn't resist the west coast..I love St. Pete, Clearwater is one of my faves... but I'm very interested in attending the Florida College of Natural Health in Sarasota. Does anyone have any personal experience with this school or know of anyone who has attended? Also, any suggestions on where to live that is in the vicinity of FCNH that is kid friendly? I'm 27, my husband is 30, and our 2 boys are 4 and 6. We would like to be by the beach and prefer a house to rent as opposed to condo/apartment.. We are not fancy people, we just want to live comfortably in a safe area with a good elementary school (dont we all? )
We currently pay $1200 for a TINY apartment.. when we lived in Fl, we paid $1000 for a whole house with a washer/dryer, awesome neighbors AND Sea World was in our backyard, so that meant fireworks every night..my boys LOVED it! That being said, I am trying to stay between $850-$1000 range as my husband will be trying to start a food truck business, so saving is a must! Any information you have, I would greatly appreciate! Thank you and have an awesome day!!

You may have to pay a bit more than that for a decent place in Sarasota. I am having a hard time finding a 2 bed, 2 bath for myself in Sarasota for less than $1,000.

You will not find a house in Sarasota for under $1000 and most cases a nice house will run you upwards of $1500.

You can find a house in Bradenton for that amount.

Thank you very much for the info. Will be doing more research! As for Bradenton, are the houses cheaper because the area is not as nice? Not as safe? I haven't been there- so I have no idea, but I know it is close, so thanks again for any information.

Generally, more body crimes up North and less in the South when looking at the Sarasota/Manatee area.

there are many areas of Bradenton that are quite lovely, safe and affordable, more so than sarasota.
As an aside, Sarasota doesn't seem to be too foodtruck friendly, so you might want to check up on requirements before committing to that business.

Food truck court in Sarasota:

Ringling Picnic

I see a lot of food trucks around.
