Since jnanner brought up car insurance cost in Florida, I thought I'd ask another question about possible savings when moving to Florida. Has anyone noticed a cost savings for cell phones? Maybe the package price wouldn't change, but what about the taxes? In NY we get hit with every type of tax possible, I event think the make stuff up when their short money. I have federal, state, county, and the now ever wonderful MTA taxes assesed to my cell phone bill. What is it like in Florida?

We have AT&T cell phone service. Each phone on our plan is charged government fees and taxes which include 911 Service Fee, FL State Communications Tax, City Communications Tax. We have the family talk plan with 4 people on it and the total fees for these services range from $2.00 to $10.00 per month, depending on usage.

my verizon Fios triple play for tv, internet and phone are cheaper than NY. I didn't have a smart phone before I moved but we both have droids now, the verizon plan for 2 phones is like $180 i think. that seems crazy high ... maybe i should investigate that one!! what do you pay in NY? My old non-smart phone bill in NY was like $60 for 2 phones!

I think I pay 120 for 2 smart phones with limited data and text, so it's not the full unlimited plan.

I've stuck with Verizon while a number of my friends are Metro PCS & Sprint or AT&T. My friends with Metro have sketchy reception most of the time and the same with AT&T & Sprint. I have never had a problem with Verizon & went Iphone earlier this year. My bill is $119 including taxes per month w/700 anytime minutes, free nights starting at 7 p.m. plus weekends & 5000 text. I'm very happy with the service.
