Hello all
I have a place in Pagosa Springs CO and stop in Santa Fe a few times a year while traveling there from Florida.
I really like Santa Fe and have thought about the possibility of moving there. The overpopulation of Florida (and near fatal humidity) have been big motivators. Now that we have decided to pave the ocean I am more serious.
I know the town ok (granted-I have been a tourist). I have looked into real estate. What I haven't done is test the job market. I have a great, well paying job and it is hard to leave. I would be looking for work in IT (networks/business consulting).
If anyone has any feedback about the job climate for this skill-set in Santa Fe or the greater area including any head-hunter links it would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the IT business here in Santa Fe. Be in for a big shock when you get here as far as salaries. Right now there's no work to be had IT and Santa Fe has never really been a hotbed of IT activity. I am not sure about LANL (Los Alamos National Labs). At the place I worked, we interviewed a few people from Florida (I guess they had the same idea as you), when we asked them what they expect as far as salary goes, one of them was used to making 90K a year but since this was Santa Fe, that person would accept $80K. We were only offering about 45. If you can find IT work, that's about what your looking at. Also, the housing in most Santa Fe neighborhoods has only dropped about 20% versus the 65% it has in Florida.

When we moved here I looked at leaving my East Coast based job and finding something local. The best I could find in business consulting (with 15 years of management/ IT background) was $50K. And it was VERY hard to even find anyone hiring. If you can keep your Florida job and work from home here, you might have the best of both worlds. I kept my old job and am very glad I did.
