Hi, I have a job offer in Modesto and currently live in Fremont. What is the commute like around 7am from Fremont to Modesto and around 6pm from Modesto to Fremont? Thanks!

Should be at the limit the whole way. 1.5 hours using the 205/99 route (safer than 132 which is an undivided two-laner with a 65 mph speed limit for a long stretch).

I lived in Modesto all of my life, and I drive out to Pleasanton a lot. On a good day with no traffic, the drive is a little over an hour--on a very good day. It can get pretty congested around the Tracy area during rush hour as well as the Manteca area when getting off of 99 to 205/580 due to commuters. I say plan an hour and a half to get to your destination. I was in Pleasonton on a visit and left the area at 210 pm hoping I can get to work in Modesto at 3:30, but I ended up being five minutes late. The drive is easy, but the traffic was horrible that day. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Did you ever take the job. I'm considering a job in Stockton/Modesto (days split up) and I live in San Ramon. I'm wondering there are any problem spots to and from. Work hours are 9-5 M-F.

Go to this website :

Traffic « CBS San Francisco

at the hours you are concerned of heavy traffic and look at the traffic. Also, go to :

https://maps.google.com/

and type in your address. Then, click on the "directions" link and put in the address where you are going. It not only gives you driving directions, it gives average driving times AND the estimated time "in current traffic". So if you do that at 7AM and 8 AM on several days, you will have an idea of the commute times during rush hour.
