Which (to my mind) begs the question : HOW the HELL can somebody resurrect a 3-year-old thread "by accident" (i.e., not know the question was asked over 3 years ago)? That's a serious question on my part. My view of the threads is sorted by date : newest posts first. Isn't that the default? Doesn't everybody see it that way?

Maybe if somebody did a search for a phrase, and just didn't notice the date? Aren't search results sorted by date also?

(And to be clear : I'm talking about *the first person* to post - with months or years between it and the previous post. I can easily see not noticing that the person before you posted to an old thread, and the thread moves to the top of "recent posts" - happens to me quite a bit.)

It happens when someone does a google search on a subject. They end up in the thread and don't know how to navigate the site. That's how I ended up here, myself
