Hey guys, I'm finally house hunting in the Bay Area and have narrowed our search to Mt View. I have found it all true what most of the guys in this forum have said abt this place - nice downtown and houses with great character. Just digressing here- Palo Alto is cute - great downtown. Gosh I just love those fab-looking houses but unfortunately they are out of my reach in terms of rental.

Has anyone lived near Chiquita Lane (or road , can't remember the exact name, it's close to Escueala Ave)? We found a cute little single home there. It's on a quiet street, close to Castro St, downtown. Does anyone know if it's a gd neighborhood?

We are on a budget of abt $2200 a mth for rental but so far we found it could only get us a small place of abt 1100 sq ft. for most of the places we've looked at. A friend suggested we go for cottages in the Palo Alto area. They could range from bad to good ones. Does anyone have any experience with cottage-living? What should we look out for when looking for a cottage to rent? Thank you so much!

The neighborhood you suggested is a good one. I don't know what you mean by cottage living, so I can't comment on that. Stay away from East Palo Alto.
