I heard 95033 is not part of Los Gatos. What is the major differences between Los Gatos Mountain and Los Gatos? What is it like to live in 95033 area? Is it expensive?

Thanks very much,
Annie

It the difference between living in a quaint little downtown with shopping and restaurants and living in the middle of the forest, surrounded by trees and somewhat isolated. It's beautiful up there, but it is winding roads through trees into an area that can feel deeply secluded.

The Los Gatos mountains area isn't actually part of the town of Los Gatos. Los Gatos is the closest town though, so the residents in the area have a Los Gatos mailing address. The area straddles both Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
My only experiences around there have just been from driving through, so maybe a resident has some more info. I do know that it can be very secluded and it feels far removed from other parts of the Bay Area. There's really no similarity between the town of Los Gatos and the mountain area. They just happen to be close to each other.

Tell you what - when a storm comes and knocks out the power, and you are in the mountains, there is no telling when you will get power back.

The only thing they have in common is the name, and sometimes a school district. It is what it is, which is unincorporated Santa Clara County, so your response times for service calls may be very sketchy, and most of the area is a fire risk.

And that's why we always liked it.

If you work in the valley, you're going to spend time in Los Gatos anyway on your way to/from the mountains, so you're not missing out on much down there. But you'll be happy to leave it all behind in a matter of minutes and soak in the <<treeness>>.

The Santa Cruz Mountains straddle two different counties. Santa Clara County and Santa Cruz Counties split the community in two. In spite of this, the community is one, solid community and although it appears isolated, the community is a very close knit community. You can live up here and never meet or talk to another resident or you can come up here and fill your days with events and friends. There is a lot to do up here.

I've lived here for over 14 years and although at times, it can have its challenges it is one of the most beautiful places to live. The people are caring and kind and thoughtful. I could tell you a million stories, but you need to experience it to understand it. It is a great place to live.

I sell real estate up here and if you ever want more information about the area, call me and I'd be happy to answer your questions. 408-472-7988-Cassie Maas.
