Right now I'm on Verizon, been with them for 10 years. I got them because they had the best coverage/ reception at the time compared to T-Mobile, ATT, Sprint, etc.

They also seem to be pretty costly for what you get, so I'm going to shop around a bit now that my contract is up. I'm even considering prepaid.

So I'd love to hear what provider folks in the Bay Area are using and are happy with. Reception IS a huge priority because we don't have a landline anymore, so we do need to have reliable cell service at home. That being said we don't use the phone THAT much, use a moderate amount of data, and a moderate amount of texting.

If Verizon is still the best option then i'd stay with them, but thought I'd ask.

Don't get Sprint. Or AT&T. Or Tmobile. I've had all three and they are terrible. Switching to Verizon as soon as my contract is up.

I carry two smartphones right now, one for work and one personal. Pain in the rear, but my company will not allow us to use our personal cell phone for work purposes.

Anyway, the work cell is Verizon and the personal is T Mobile. At least here in most parts of the East Bay/N. San Jose, my T Mobile has noticeably cleaner voice quality and better reception for voice. The data reception and throughput is about the same for both carriers.

I used Sprint in the past, and the service sucks.

We are in the South Bay, I have AT&T and my husband has Verizon (same iphone model) and I haven't noticed a measurable difference between the two. The only time we notice a difference is while camping in more remote areas, but it's been split about 50/50 between the two - sometimes one has better coverage, sometimes the other. That's a lot of help, I imagine...sorry!
