I actually just moved to Santa Rosa two years ago from the central valley. I also have frequented SF all my life. For the last year or so my boyfriend and I have been looking to move closer to the city because he goes to the state school there.

Believe me when I say you should stay with your parents here in Santa Rosa and then transfer there is when you're done with the JC. The city life is rough, noisy and sometimes very dangerous. Coming from the central valley where crime and poverty is very high, living in a safe and beautiful place such as Sonoma county is something you will miss!

Additionally the rent is crazy high there you will probably end up paying more than you can afford just for a room in an apartment (believe me I've checked). Although SF can be a wonderful place to visit, it is not the nicest place to live unless you have plenty of money.

I guess you're right. I think Santa Rosa fine but it's not for me anymore, as I just said in my first post. It's definitely nice here in terms of weather and scenery. However, even though SF is nice to visit, I probably wouldn't want to live in most of the city. But I can't say that until I get to live there. I think I'd rather live in Berkeley or somewhere really close to SF that has that Bay Area feel you know.
