Hello SD crew. I've posted on your board a handful of times as I spend some time down your way a handful of times every year as my parents have a weekend place downtown in the gaslamp quarter. anyways, i may have an opportunity to relocate down from LA for a position in UTC. I love the beach and all the outdoor activities that come with it (i currently live near santa monica less than .5 mile from the beach in LA) and would prefer to keep this lifestyle. Having said that, i'd also like to be within a 30 commute of the office. from a quick glance, it looks like SD is actually cheaper than i thought it would be (i guess that's what LA will do to you). anyways, i guess i'd probably rather stay south of UTC as i'd also need access to the airport for monthly flights for work. Do you guys have any recommendations for someone who likes the beach and the urban village environment but doesn't want to commute too far for work? except for the nicest parts of la jolla and beachfront properties, i should be able to afford an apartment in most places. thanks!!!!

thanks for the replies. we'd be looking for a 1br apartment, preferably in a nicer/newer building with a washer/dryer in the unit if possible. currently we're paying about $1800/month. we can go higher, but would prefer to stay lower.
