This forum has been very helpful in us preparing for the move. I have another question. If you had a choice between The Summit condos on Alva Rd or Waterbridge on W Bernardo Dr which area would you recommend. Pros or cons for either one would be helpful. We will be there at the beginning of the year

Are schools an issue or not (both are Poway schools but different elementaries)?

Schools are very similar. Westbridge is assigned to Rancho Bernardo High, Summit is currently Mt Carmel High, a new high school will open next year in the neighborhood. Elementary schools have

Personally, I'd prefer The Summit. Waterbridge is a bit too close to the freeway, and there's a big plaza within walking distance from The Summit.

I think Waterbridge is Turtleback elementary and the Summit is Monterey Ridge. My kids went to Monterey Ridge and it is an excellent school, only concern is that it may be full (you should call to check this) and you would be sent to Turtleback anyway until a spot opens at Monterey Ridge. I think Turtleback is equally good, just not so full. And as far as I know, Monterey Ridge only has 1/2 day kindergarten because of space issues while the other elementaries offer full day (again call to confirm things may change next fall).

I don't know what plaza emsith is talking about - there isn't a plaza by Alva Road. There is a shopping plaza by Waterbridge though. It would definitely be quieter at the Summit but if you have to park your car on Alva Rd., I think there may be a problem with break-ins (not sure though).

Good luck and keep us updated!
