I'm looking to move in to Vista Bella Apartments located at 1362 East Main Street in El Cajon. Any opinions? Is that a safe neighborhood? I've never been there and I need your help!

El Cajon usually gets a bad rep and people call it "ghetto' but really it's not. It is run down and has crappy parts but there are nice areas like Granite Hills, Fletcher Hills and out around Grossmont College. Are those apartments by the Albertson's?

It could be worse. El Cajon is nearly unanimously considered "dangerous" around this forum, but really isn't. sure, there's your wannabe gangsters walking around sometimes who mostly just look intimidating but are too insecure to actually cause any trouble. frankly, i find el cajon to be pretty boring and uncultured, but not dangerous.

having said that, there are nicer areas in EC than the address you've mentioned.

What people up there said.People on here give EC such a bad rep it's not even funny.Pretty f-d up and ignorant in my behalf.

I think the are of Second and East Main from what I've seen and hear about there is nothing wrong or two problematic.

People aren't going to be impressed that you're living in that section of El Cajon, but you can be happy and safe there.

Poor El Cajon can't catch a break. Did you all see this clip from the CBS show "$#*t! My Dad Says?" It's pretty funny. The guy who inspired this TV show is a native San Diegan.

^ Yeah I heard about that on the news

and Santee is MUCH better than El Cajon. Anyone who thinks that's even up for debate is a total moron. As for everyone's "Clantee" insults...not funny. Might've been 25 years ago, but not now.

El Cajon is the anus of San Diego. I'm sorry but it's true.

El Cajon is a fine collaboration of some of the worst of every race in the county. It's like all the rejects from the other counties met up there. Santee and Lakeside are both way better than El Cajon in terms of quality of living. El Cajon may not have the rednecks that santee and lakeside do, but it makes up for it with gangs and criminals.

I went to El Cajon to tour the Taylor Guitar factory. Saw many nice neighborhoods on our way there.

Yes, in spite of what SOME people are saying, there are many nice areas in and around El Cajon!
