I actually think this is pretty funny. Kinda goes for most of CA from an outsider perspective. No, not everyone is like this.

But I did have to get used to some of this. The "chill" being a useful quaility is kind of hilarious... I'd have to agree there, lol.

Myself, I had to get used to people saying the word "stoked" and being serious, I thought a lot of CA sterotypes actually were but they are real. Surfer stereotypes (and I like surfing, so don't get me wrong) are a lot more accurate than I knew....sometimes real people here really representing what I thought were exaggerated charictures.

I love "stoked." Way better than gnarly, although can't hate on gnarly too much.

I can only think about 1 reason not to move to SD: strong sun, but that only applies to folks with white skin.
Any other reason I have seen here like traffic, high COL etc. are funny, because traffic here is nothing compared to similar places in the east, and COL is similar.
As to people in SD not being too literal or not well educated that's a bunch of BS: it all depends on circle of people you are in, I work in biotech company and there are tons of people with MS and PHD and very intelligent.
Other then too much sun it's one of the best cities in the world: ideal temperature range, beautiful landscape, ocean, well dressed and fit people around mostly, pretty spanish style architecture, folks are generally nice, open and not too tight.
Go checkout New England which I recently being to and compare - what a dump that place is comparing to any place in CA!

Didn't notice the fake religious part when I was there, but I agree with these above. The tan obsession is ridiculous given that the memo for sun bathing damaging your skin has been out for about 20 yrs, if not more. She has a point in number 2: There are youtube vids of random interviews on the beach in SD of the general beach-going populace and no one even knew who our VP is. I'm serious, some hadn't even heard of Joe Biden.

There are more tourists on SD beaches any time of the day than natives for sure, so this just proves that the US generally is not too literate, which does not even need to be proved, it's common knowledge.

On the contrary, it was the visiting tourists who knew the answer. He was from Germany.
