I am a huge dance club fan. Especially dance clubs that play house, trance, electronic music. I may be relocating to San Diego. Can anyone tell me how many dance clubs are in San Diego and the surrounding metropolitan areas. When I say metropolitan areas I am referring to places no more than 40 minutes outside of downtown San Diego.

I'm specifically asking about DANCE CLUBS (DJs and dance floors). I don't care about strip clubs, lounge bars, or places that play live music. Thank you very much to the people who can answer this question for me!!

There are some good places in Pacific Beach for electronic music. If you are a person of color though, do not go to Miller's Field. It is located on Mission Blvd. Just today me and a friend (I am Asian and my friend is Mexican) were denied access. The bouncer told us to wait for a few minutes while they let in numerous amounts of "white people" into the bar. When I asked if we could go in, they accused me of harassing them, and told me to leave. Never in my life have I experienced such racism and hate

Really? Aren't most of the door bouncers Non-white? Maybe the "numerous amounts of white people" had females with them. Millers Field is a sports bar anyway

Entire San Diego only has 1 area for dance clubs: Downtown. There are some clubs by the beach but from the sounds of it, you will be disappointed: They play hip hop/dance, people wear shorts and flip flops.

In general there are only 5 or so "good" clubs in San Diego. Without a doubt Hip Hop is the most popular music genre in SD so most of the nightlife consists of people standing around mean mugging to Rap. There is no underground culture in San Diego, it's a depth-less city so the scene is centered around bottle service not dancing.

I recommend the website Yelp.

I've been out of this scene for about 8 years, but since you haven't got many response, I will say I remember that the The Flame and Numbers played the type of house and trance. They are gay clubs, but if you can get past that, they played some pretty good music to dance to. I would imagine there are other places around the Hillcrest area that would play this type of music.

SD is not a big dance club kind of town which was fine by me because I never was a club kind of guy, what it does very well are dive bars and live music. See the divebar thread for examples. https://www.city-data.com/forum/san-d...dive-bars.html

Don't know if Red C lounge is still around, but they were the best little underground spot for house music about 10 years ago.
