I'm in Chula Vista; the couch felt like it was swaying front to back, as if it were on a boat. I didn't like that at all.

A series of small quakes like this is a good thing. It dissipates stored tension in the fault system and prevents it from building up into a big one. That said, the fault creeps out by Brawley but there is a big restraining bend in the fault further north and each of these creeps puts more strain on the restraining bend.

Here in the Imperial Valley, it has been shaking all morning with little thuds, so this didn't totally catch us off guard. But after noon the bigger one hit all of a sudden, I was outside cleaning....well, cleaning what all dog lovers clean, lol. So picturethis, dogs barking, car alarms going off, shade canopies jerking back and forth, power lines waving, people yelling and you get the picture. It lasted a while, but apparently it was 2 or 3 quakes that happened consecutively. All is fine though...just a few bottles fell down inside the refrigerator and fell to the floor when I opened the door. Cell phone service is back and we never lost the all important electricity (AC)...will keep you updated if anything else changes out here.
