I am moving to San Diego. I have an 06 Honda CRV I purchased in NC. Will I need to have it fitted for CA emissions once I get there? If so is it pricey or am I better off selling it in NC and buying a new on once I get to CA? Thanks for your help!

Hondas are clean cars. You should have no problem passing smog here.

It will pass smog. Don't worry about it.

Sometimes I wonder where people hear this stuff about CA... you're not the first person to have this concern.

I wish I had time to look it up right now... there is a provision regarding smog and Use Tax on a vehicle recently purchased and brought into CA... I think it is something like within the past 90 days???

Anyway if you've owned the car for a while... you will have no problem with either...

Also, if you or your spouse is active military... you don't even need to bother to register your car in California if you don't want to... many choose Florida because of favorable tax rules...

Ok thanks for the advice. MY CRV is an 06 and is 2 years old with 20K on it so I think I will be ok. My spouse has an 89 Camaro Iroc with 200K on it but it had its exhaust system replaced and the engine rebuilt per current emmision standars so I think she will be ok as well.

Honda... no problem what so ever... it is still has the factory emission warranty.

Camaro... should be OK... but I also have a 91 Chevy Silverado and a 85 Chevy G20 Van... both run well and are well maintained... but California keeps tightening the standards on the older cars... a few points here and there....

My Chevy's both passed, but the truck by only a few ppm. It had the same reading as two years ago, but they tightened the standard... also the new treadmill test is flagging more vehicles...
