Is there a good dim sum restaurant near Torrey Pines? We'll be visiting in a couple of weeks and would like to find some good dim sum in the area.
Thanks!

I've heard good things about this place:
Emerald Chinese - San Diego, CA

It's about 10 miles from the Torrey Pines area.

San Diego doesn't do dim sum all that well (but maybe I'm spoiled from visiting LA and SF regularly); of the ones we do have I'd rate them only ok and they're all located on Convoy.

Emerald is good, that's our go-to spot. Jasmine is also good, but *really* crowded and a bit more expensive Jasmine Seafood Restaurant - Authentic Hong Kong Chinese Food in San Diego.. There's a little place on the street behind Ranch 99 that's really good- it's not the little carts, but a big sheet of paper where you check off all the goodies you want..

Oh, I found it, it's Mr. Dumpling @ 7250 Convoy Ct. They also do hotpot, which I haven't tried, but I hear it's good.

There's nothing here that compares with dim sum I've had in San Francisco or other places, but we have some decent choices.

It's not Dim Sum but I noticed Jen mentioned Dumplings so I thought I'd throw out there that my favorite dumpling place is Dumpling Inn also on Convoy.

Mr. Dumpling has most of the Dim Sum items, just minus the carts. I think they may even have chicken feet

But yeah, I really REALLY love Dumpling Inn.

I was there last night and there was a line out the door even at 7pm. Now, that's mostly because the inside is so tiny but it does give you an idea of how good the food is. I love their Xiao Long Bao. I usually stop off at that Korean grocery store right next to Dumpling Inn as well just to see if they have any good deals on BBQ spare ribs or what not.
