I'm doing some research to find an affordable neighborhood to buy a home, with excellent public schools.

Chino Hills is jumping out at me, because there seem to be lots of newish homes available for around $300K and the schools are excellent. This seems a rare find, compared to other places nearby in LA County like Diamond Bar.

Given the great schools, why is it so inexpensive? Is it because it is outside of LA County? Or is there something else I am missing?

Is there a big difference between Chino and Chino Hills? As far as housing prices, school quality, etc?

My husband works in Downtown LA, and needs to commute to Union Station. We realize it may take about 1.5 hours of commute time each way, but he is okay with that since he gets to read during the train ride.

Thanks!
