Since Time Warner basic cable is included in the Harveston association dues, I was wondering if HD service was included? Anyone in Harveston have any details?

Thanks!

No HD channels. We just dealt with this when we purchased a new TV. You get the HD channels, but they come in via analog. You have to pay a bunch of extra bucks to Time Warner for the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply! Do you mean they require an ATSC tuner to receive? How much are you paying for the upgrade and is the cost of basic credited (or do you need a completely separate account?)

Thanks so much!

Also, do you know if FIOS is available in Harveston?

I believe that FiOS is available in Harveston, but you're best of checking the specific address yourself on their site:

Verizon | FiOS Internet Check Availability

For the record I have FiOS for Internet access (in Temecula Creek) but still like using DirecTV for TV. The internet access is amazing. Very fast. I hear great things about their HD TV service, but I just don't trust it enough to share the bandwith since I work from home and VPN into work. I rely on that constant fast connection.

Hey Dave!

Thanks for the response! I actually have FIOS at my current location (FIOS tv, Phone and 15/2 internet). I also work at home and VPN in - don't worry about the TV having an impact. There is PLENTY of fiber bandwidth (they can push hundreds of mbps through the pipes) and from my installation it appears the TV is coming in through a separate COAX connection (which still terminates at the fiber but its separate from the internet cabling)

I've pegged my connection at the full 15mbps (downloading totally legal tv shows that is...) while also running a TV downstairs and upstairs on HD channels - no hiccups at all.

I do tend to have problems with my VPN router - it doesn't seem to like to keep a lot of connections open at once (bittorrent, etc). Do you have any vpn router recommendations?
