Hello,
I am new to the Inland Empire and I have an urge to find a lake or a spring to go swimming over the weekend.
Does anyone know where one is? I live in the Loma Linda area and would like to go somewhere that isn't too far. Also, in addition to a lake or spring, somewhere that also allows bonfires.

The closest thing I can think of is Lake Gregory up in Crestline towards Big Bear. It's about 1/2 hour up the hill on the 18. Or you could take the 38 and go the back way up to Big Bear - that's about an hour away. It's super dry right now so fires are probably something to check up on. They'll have signs posted whether you can or not.

Lake Perris, Lake Elsinore and other local lakes towards the South are also an option but the lakes up the hill are nicer in my opinion. Lake Perris and Elsinore *might* allow bonfires but it's been years since I've been there.

Have fun!

Lake Gregory is an SB County Park, and is day use only.

You're joking, right?
If you want any kind of fire, go to the beach.

There is no camping at Lake Gregory however there is Camp Switzerland nearby that offers a nice place for camping in the summer.

There is a really nice trail that goes all the way around the lake and would be a nice little day hike with several nice places to stop and have a picnic lunch.

Temps at Lake Gregory are in the low 50's during the day so not sure if you planned on going swimming. The beaches are closed till Memorial Day.

Another option not too far from Lake Gregory is Silverwood Lake too. They have beaches that are open year round although I imagine the water is pretty cold this time of year. I think it's still $10 entry fee.
