I went to San Antonio last week (I live in Houston) and walking down the extended Riverwalk towards Pearl Brewery, it kept going! I was told by a city worker it goes all the way to the Zoo and Witte Museum, (with the exception of the golf course). I didn't finish the walk because it was hot and i had blisters all over my feet but next time i'll start from Broadway and Josephine and finish the walk. I'm wondering why nobody advertised this as being complete?

No, I don't believe it's complete. I don't know what he told you. Unless they finished ahead of schedule. I doubt it.

Check out this map:

According to this map from the San Antonio Express News, that portion of the expansion dubbed, "Park Segment" of the Musuem Reach isn't scheduled to be completed until 2011.

Here's the link for the Express News article (select "show full article" to see it in its entirety):

And the link to see a larger version of the above map (halfway through the page):

The map and the article are right. The Park section is not complete. It may even run behind schedule by the look of things.

You are right, the path just goes on and on! I love walking over in that area since it's not nearly as crowded as the central part of the river walk.

These expansions will be great for urban renewal.

They did advertise it in SA, (grand opening) can't speak for Houston. The Riverwalk is expanding to the southside as well, mission reach. When completed from the near northside to the southside the length will be over 13 miles long, you can always take a river taxi to avoid the blisters.

The "Urban segment" on that map is complete. It's very nice. I just walked it last weekend.

Yep, there are signs that give the impression that the Riverwalk goes as far north as the Zoo and Brackenridge Park; but it's not quite there yet. Still, I agree, it will be very nice when this and the southern segment are completed.

You gotta give SA credit, the town doesn't rest on its laurels. These projects and the greenbelts being built along several major creeks are what keeps this place popular with locals and visitors alike!

Cheers! M2

I just got back from running the extension. At Josephine you must head to Ave B and you can run the bike trail up to the park.

I saw the bike trail on Avenue B. Does the river totally end after 281 or just until Mulberry? The signs make it look like if you take Avenue B for a while eventually the river reappears again.
