Here is the one I have and can highly recommend it - alerts have consistently been at least 5+ minutes quicker than those on the Weather Channel - Midland All Hazards Weather Alert Radio Model WR-300/301 - $48 on Amazon w/free super-saver shipping. Has selectable hazard settings as well as ability to store specific S.A.M.E. codes or all color-coded alerts (voice or siren), and is equipped w/AM/FM radio, clock w/alarm and battery backup - very important should the electricity go out!

My wife and I were looking for one, but there is just so many to choose from on Amazon. This one would have been good to have last night?

Note: Yes, definitely!

First off, thank you to Anthony for updating and sharing on the board. I found myself checking here instead so much of the TVs. Between you and my weather radio, I was well ahead of TV updates. Able to pass on the info to friends in south Bexar who were able to hunker down. Although they got some very high winds, hail, and lightning, if something else would've occurred, they'd be ahead of the curve, somewhat.

But I slept like a baby last night. Surprisingly, so did my dogs. Other than slightly waking up to look outside, we all crashed out. Weather radio was going all sorts of crazy too.I don't remember what brand I have but when I lived in Oklahoma, it was one of the BEST investments I ever made. Had a few close calls.

I stayed at the office until after the tornado watch passed and
things seemed to settle down... then went home.

About an hour later the rain, thunder and lightening started and
seemingly went on most of the night out here in Schertz.

Power went out for me in 78154 around 2am and is still out as I
write this.

I didn't either. My son slept through the whole thing, but I just couldn't.

Interesting stuff.

Now, I'm wondering (a month later again) whether all of this rain has had an effect on our drought status. In other words, are we still in a drought?

For some reason this drought site hasn't been been brought up to current conditions since March 13. Maybe they got a week off for Spring break? Anyway, if your county is in white or yellow, no drought. All others are in various stages of drought.
