Wow, is there really that long a wait (and that much work) for well drillers right now?

Got my water well worked on today...finally. I am not going to name names (private message me if you really want to know) but there were two different worthless outfits that had no capacity whatsoever to do this big of a job! Haven't had water for a month waiting on those losers.

H.D. Schwope did a freaking fantastic job in just hours today pulling 300 ft. of 2 in. steel and replacing my pump and that galvanized pipe with schedule 80 pvc. They came out here and did this job just three days after calling them. Should have gone with them first.

The water table on this well was at 316, and the bottom of my other pump ended at 314 so I was just drawing air (another proof that this is the worst drought on record!)

The bottom of my well is 381 ft. so all we had to do was drop the pump to around 365 ft. which will allow another 20 ft. of depth from the bottom but plenty of water above it! I am drawing from the Cow Creek Aquifer. Beautiful, cold, clear water straight out of the ground!

Praise the good Lord up above I didn't have to drill as there is currently a 3 1/2 month wait on the drilling rigs and it would have cost at least $15,000!

Thank you for all for your concern and questions. I stayed out there watching them and learned A LOT today.

have a GREAT DAY!
That's great news!! We're also on a well.

Gongratulations, Camper1! Happy days are here again, huh?
Actually, 10 to 20 inches of rain in the next month would go a long way toward bringing happy days back to this whole region. That spit the other day was nice, but we need some REAL RAIN!!!

Very good advice

and it's just nasty out there. I normally drive around without the a/c on, but had to use it by around 10 AM because it was already 96 according to my car and it felt every bit of it too. I was actually sweating, which is very unusual, so I know it has to be absolutely miserable out there for most people. My car said 104 when I came home (Westcreek) and this was before 1 PM

and people want to move here on purpose? crazy fools

At 11 AM, we've already broke the record high for the date. Current temp is 102º in San Antonio, breaking the old record of 101º set back in 1940. The all-time record high of 111º is in serious danger of being broken.

Anthony, earlier I saw that the end of the week hold chances for rain and temps as low as 90. Any chance of that really happening?

Right now I'm thinking about a 20% chance of rain beginning Thursday and going up to 30-40% by Saturday and Sunday. Ridge will break down, and models show a low from the Gulf sitting on top of Texas. Not sure how low temperatures will be, that's highly dependent on how much rain falls, but I do think we'll be below 100.

I'd raise the chances a bit higher, but AT the moment it looks like the low will be centered slightly east of San Antonio which would limit the heaviest rains to East Texas. However, since it's a few days out, it's still close enough to us for our area to be in the game.

this sucks. Declare a state of emergency already and offer free admission to all museums, indoor attractions and waterparks for those dealing with little ones who JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY OUTSIDE!!! Gawd, I hate Texas.
