It appears that the data in the link is from 2003...

From the page:

Two nights ago FOUR cars in my apartment complex were broken into. Gang grafitti is a lot more prominent than it used to be. That's on top of everything I've seen all summer. I don't know if crime is up for sure, but from what I've seen it sure as hell looks like it.

San Antonio is like every other major city in America. That is, it has crime, drugs, prostitutes, rich people and poor people looking at each other funny. I like San Antonio. Have you ever been to NY city? or Miami? You would think SA is a country village compared to those cities.

I thought of this thread when my kids' wagon (and their things) were stolen outside the Viva show at Sea World San Antonio this weekend.

Crime may be up here, especially theft and vandalism.

As a whole, though, I feel WAY safer here than I ever did in my hometown of Canton, Ohio, which has about 80,000 residents, or in my many travels up I-77 to Cleveland.

I think that's 60 miles from here. Still stupid to try and break into a place near a university while people are home. Can't say I'd have reacted any different than they did though. Hope they don't get too far behind in class this semester because of all of this.
