There have been armed robberies at North Star and Huebner Oaks. The root causes are the economy and culture for economically or substance abuse motivated (or a combo) crime.

The USA is unable structurally to deal with such, nor are our political entities cable of doing anything for society beyond trying to get re-elected and on the money train.

One can try to be affluent enought to live behind the castle walls or have mercenaries protect your fancy stuff and body.

Well, this happened at Ingram Mall and NOT La Cantera so despite the unsubstantiated claims that the former is safer than the latter; I guess you just have to read the article a little closer and note which mall this occurred at!

Too bad this punk didn't go up against a CHL holder, 'cause I would have had a good laugh at his mother being interviewed by the local news crying and saying what a good buy he was!

I know some of the bleeding hearts are going to jump all over that last statement, but sometimes it takes a few law-abiding citizens to protect themselves before scumbags like this learn that stealing a car might cost them their worthless lives!

I hope I get a jury summons for this waste of flesh's trial! However, I doubt the defense attorney (which I am sure will have to be court-appointed therefore paid for by our taxes) would want me on the jury!

Cheers! M2

to say san antonio don't have any malls to be excited about is absurd. youre just downing your own city, and obv you dont travel much. most big city malls are the same to begin with, just a different touch in design and layout. im not saying we have the best in the united states either, but northstar and la cantera are malls just as good as anywhere in the u.s; and ive traveled and been to malls all over: vegas, denver, phoenix, salt lake, LA, san diego, okc, tulsa, etc.

Sorry but our malls are mediocre compared to those outside of SA.

Of all the malls here, Northstar reminds me of a real mall. The kind of malls I remember from when I was a kid.

I was suprised when I moved here a couple of years ago at the malls here, to be honest.

I am an avid shopper and browser, and was pretty disappointed with the selections available here.

The malls themselves are ok, but even the selections inside their big anchor stores do not compare with other cities.

La Cantera is part of a new concept that is coming up all over the U.S as I have seen it in other states I have been in. I personally love it.

Yes, Northstar is the traditional type. So is Ingram really. I personally feel that Northstar stores as a whole are a little more upscale and the way it is designed on the inside. But that's just my opinion.

I've been shopping at Ingram Park Mall since I moved here in 1997 and have never been robbed, mugged, shot at, or anything. I'm not saying to disregard this incident but I AM saying it's not the norm.

Agree with the poster who mentioned the underlying causes...too true. The economy tanks and crimes like this go up.

To be fair, La Cantera is no Bellevue Square, but at the same time you can do a whole lot worse. It's really not bad IMO.
