Why would Houston Independent School District be coming after our money?

So, what are they doing to get our money exactly? The OP is a little vague.

How about a link to an article or something backing up your claim?

Quote:
Harlandale school district officials will again ask voters to consider a tax referendum that would raise school property taxes by 13 cents. If approved, it would help pay off $1.3 million in debt and pay for daily operations such as salaries, utilities and supplies.

Trustees of the Harlandale Independent School District are expected to approve the proposed tax referendum either at a Monday meeting or at the beginning of August. The community would decide the tax election on Nov. 4.

As far as I can determine only South San is paying a higher rate than Harlandale in 2006. Haven't found 2008 figures.
Yet!

Perhaps H.I.S.D. would have more money in their coffers if they hadn't dealt with crooked cronies like contractors. Haven't they just rebuilt every school in Harlandale? Not to mention increased the size of all of them . So much as to exclude all playgrounds. Now they're closing some schools down to save money! Who's running the circus. From all I've heard Harlandale as always paid some of the highest property taxes. What ever schools they closed down they should sell. Use that money and get your hands out of our empty pockets!

Vote no to any tax increases!

i think people should attend this meeting and ask if the $100K slush fund that Tomas Uresti could help cover this tax hike. do some research, its out there.

oh yeah saphire, there is only 19 school districts in the bexarmet area San Antonio Area Public School Districts and Catholic Schools Office (broken link)
btw, none of them work in unison except for the state standards...welcome to our world folks

IIRC, Harlandale is lean on commercial property to tax. Homeowners carry an inordinate amount of the tax burden there.
