Some wonderful older homes can be found down Bandera Rd past Callaghan but before Hillcrest around the Inspiration Hills neighborhood. Streets such as BroadView, CityView, Inspiration Dr and Lookout Dr contain many well kept homes and an added bonus is that the neighborhood is very hilly with some streets and homes having picture perfect views of the downtown skyline (especially CityView and Lookout Dr.)

If I'm not mistaken, someone else mentioned this neighborhood in another thread on this same zip code.
Hey 940, I'll keep BroadView, CityView, Inspiration Dr and Lookout Dr in mind. Very hilly and a view of the downtown skyline sounds perfect. Cheers!

You're very welcome! I'm not living in that neighborhood now because i'm renting, and the apartments there are definetely older and not that great. however, my husband works in the medical center (78229 - really close to 78228, if you're not familiar with san antonio) so when we buy a house we will probably go with either inspiration hills, oak hills (78229 - right on the other side of 410) or the monticello area (78201), which i love too. i forgot to mention in the last message, i don't know what the crime statistics in the area are, but my family has lived there 30 years and never had a problem with crime. hope this helps!

Good to know. I work in the Healthcare industry and when I relocate, I will probably be working in the medical center. What is the price range for homes in inspiration hills and oak hills? If you know of other nabes with older homes (50s-60s ranches) please let me know. Thanks!!

If you will be working at the Medical Center, and are looking for older, "ranch style" homes, i think this area would be ideal for you (zips 78229, 78228, or 78201). The best website i have found to see what homes are for sale is mysa.com, then go to "real estate". you can look by subdivision or zip code (among other things). I would say the houses in these areas for the most part go for between $100-$200 (however there are definetely higher and lower). I also found this website for the oak hills subdivision - myoakhills.org. It actually talks about how most of the houses there are ranch style.

Default 78228

Isn't Inspiration Hills in 78228? This is a nice neighborhood.
My parents have a home in 78228 and there is NO crime and there is NO trash blowing around, or rusted out cars. 78228 must have a wide range because their neighborhood is lovely.

78228 is in the SAISD and most of the schools there have alot of gang problems truse me but it's the second worst in school districts the worst is the edgewood district if your kids go there then you can bet they will be in a gang. i've seen kids who are still in elemetry school and already joined a local gang. the gangs get them when their young so by the time they are teenagers they will have that killer instinct sort of like brainwashing them But this is a defferent zipcode. there are some nice areas in the 78228 zipcode but alot of it is all messed up there are some areas were you see a real nice looking neighborhood then the very next one is trashed up and ghetto. most of the nicer houses are in the northern part of the zipcode.

Correct, on both counts. Inspiration Hills has mostly ranches built in the 60s with open floorplans and large yards. The houses on top of the hills have amazing views, and tend to go for quite a bit of money. I have a friend who has a house that's about a third of the way up the hill, and what it lacks in views it makes up by having a nice floorplan and an enormous back yard.
