I read a little while ago about the city of San Antonio possibly going to annex an area north of Timberwood park, I believe part of Bulverde area. I am curious, does anybody know how the "trade" works for both San Antonio and Comal county? Wouldn't Comal county have to be "compensated" for all of the revenue that it will loose to San Antonio in case of annexation of part of its current ?

Comal would still get taxes due to Comal County.

The places that would be annexed currently pay no taxes to a city, San Antonio would then be the city entity they would pay taxes to.

Which is why if you want to buy in an area near San Antonio and you want to protect yourself from being annexed in the future, you buy in a small incorporated city. Otherwise, the oncoming sound of a vacuum cleaner is from the impending annexation sucking the money from your wallet.

Which small incorporated cities would you give as example? Castle Hills? Shavano Park? Alamo Ranch? would that include Helotes?

Alamo Ranch is not a city and I question whether they will ever stand a chance of that happening.

Castle Hills, Shavano Park, Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Balcones Heights and Olmos Park are all examples of independent cities within the SA area. None of these are on what many people call the northside, though.

Shavano Park basically abuts 1604, if that's not northside, then I'm not sure what is.
