I'm not saying your are an idiot necessarily, but I live in an area of San Antonio that is immediately adjacent to Terrell Hills and Alamo Heights as well as areas of San Antonio served by Alamo Heights ISD. You can see where the city boundaries/ school district boundaries are based on home price. A home in San Antonio and NEISD pretty much goes from 300K to 500K when you switch over to the Alamo Heights ISD side of the neighborhood. When you cross the line into Alamo Heights City proper, you get a 20-30 year older home and lose 500-1000 square feet and pay 600K or more.

Maybe we are saying the same, but thinking differently or visa versa . if I look at Alamo , 400k smaller house has higher property tax then a 400k larger house and lot in belverde or spring Branch .. When I look at money , I'll take the latter anyday of the week .

Bulverde is its own city.

Spring Branch is not.

It also costs more in fuel and vehicle wear-and-tear to drive from a suburb to a job in San Antonio than it does to live in San Antonio and drive to that job. Plus, you'd be driving on San Antonio city streets to get there and not paying city taxes for the privilege.

I'd rather pay a bit more in taxes and get home from work sooner.

Not paying taxes but enjoying what the taxes pay for seem to be common these days.

Drive out east to St.Hedwig. They had even years ago expanded their town limits to keep San Antonio from taking them over.Von Ormy is incorporated, don't know if St.Hedwig is.

San Antonio had a steep school tax when I lived there 30 yrs ago. That on top of high property tax. Nice city though.
