If their taxes are frozen due to the age 65+ exemption, and they make new improvements, then their taxes get "thawed", additional taxes are assessed on the new improvements, and then they are frozen again.

The taxes for senior citizens only remain frozen as long as they don't improve their property.

Except, that "new blood" may be someone who bought when the area was depressed in 1980, or 1990, or even 2000. They bought what they could afford, but their incomes didn't double or triple.

I was quoting the article about the long ago residents. The "NEWS" moving in in the past few years have to pay for the success of their revitalization of Beacon Hill.Secrets do not remain so for long.
