Shooting reported on West Side | WOAI: San Antonio News

This is getting depressing. You just never know who your neighbors are. Two separate shootings in the same neighborhood on a weekday afternoon. A 17 year old is dead.

One incident: SAPD: One dead, one critical in*shooting on west side | kens5.com San Antonio It sounds like they drove off and left the 17 year old after he was shot and they called for help a couple of miles away.

Not really, I think several people can get in a fight in any part of town.

"More violence from the west side"? I guess I don't get that comment.

Actually, this is just down the street from me, less than a mile from my house as the crow flies. Unfortunately, that neighborhood is pretty hit-or-miss, real estate wise, IMHO, but no violent crime to speak of. In fact, the entire area of 78251 has very low violent crimes, and certainly nothing like this kind of thing. We certainly would never have moved here if that had been the case!

It is very sad, no doubt. The story that is being bandied about is, this was a family that had a daughter that was not supposed to be seeing the older (21 years old) man (and alleged shooter). There apparently have been several altercations at the home between the girl's brother(s) and the man. He came back for what looks like a revenge shooting.

Even though the neighborhood of Creekside isn't quite what the rest of Westover Hills is, this was still pretty shocking to me. I heard the sirens as I was standing outside with my neighbors enjoying the afternoon and waiting for my daughter's bus. Her school is less than 1/4 mile from the shooting. We all thought, since we have an EMS/Fire Station close by, and hear sirens fairly regularly, that there must have been an accident or something. We all remarked on how many we were hearing, but none of us thought it would be for something like THIS.

I agree with Hedgehog Mom that fights happen in all parts of town. There are certainly elements close to us here in Westover Hills that I wish were not so close, but I wasn't thinking of Creekside necessarily...
