i'm not here to cause a panic or stir up anything, but thought i'd let CD posters know of the following lock down...

Cambridge Elementary School placed on lock down | News - Home

news is being a little vague, so I thought someone here may be able to keep others up to date.

Thanks for starting this thread. This is my alma mater and my niece and nephew go there, so like you, I am trying to find out more information.

news just said classes are still going on, and parents are not being allowed to pick up their kids at this time.
all of the alamo heights district is on a 'modified' lock down I believe.

seems like this is all just a false alarm. just happened to be off today and saw it on the news.

My children go there.
This is from the A.H. district office;
"ParentsIn light of the phone threat at Cambridge, and in order to have an abundance of caution, all campuses in the district are in modified lock-down. That means that classes will continue but no one will be allowed to leave or enter any campus in the district until further notice. All students are in a safe location and police are present at each campus. Your child’s safety is our greatest priority, so please do not come pick up children at this time. Thank you."

My son texted me, school as normal and all the schools are in a lock down which means no open campus for lunch for the H.S. students.
The Jr. school is having classes as normal as well; the modified lock down is a pre cautionary.
As of now, we still don't know who made the threatening call to Cambridge this morning although the person was still on the phone line when the police showed up to Cambridge and intercepted the phone call.

The all clear was given around 1:20. My daughter called from the HS and said it was crazy with the campus being closed so everyone had to stay for lunch.

Kens 5's website shared the email from Superintendent Brown to the parents after the lockdown was lifted this afternoon:

"Parents - The police have ascertained that the phone threat this morning was not credible. The district and police used an abundance of caution in locking down the school. At this time, we are lifting the lock-down at all campuses. School will continue to operate as normal for the remainder of the day and dismissal will occur at normal times. Police will continue to investigate this case, and it is possible this is linked to other phone threats made to other places in the past. We will continue to cooperate with police.

"Now that the lock down has been lifted, we know that some parents want to come pick their children up from school early. Although we know they are safe at school, and we encourage them to stay in school until the end of the day, parents are allowed to pick their children up by checking in at the front office. All campuses will follow normal dismissal procedures.

"Thank you for your patience today. In spite of the threat, school has been calm and the children and teachers have been wonderful.

"For the remainder of the week, we will have a police presence at all campuses. Otherwise, schools will follow their normal routines.

"It is sad that someone would make a call and disrupt our schools. Schools sometimes get threatening phone calls, and it is unsettling to all of us. However, while we have to follow safety protocols at school on a daily basis, very few phone threats turn out to be legitimate. It is important for us to be mindful of how we talk about this with our children and to model calmness for them.

"We love our children and so appreciate your patience and support today. We also thank our district staff, law enforcement officials, and parents for handling this day so well. They did a great job! Please let our staff know if we can help you in any way."
