Does anyone out there know of a place where one can purchase parts for appliances? I went to Home Depot and Lowes, but came away with nothing but a card for a 1800 number. I did google a local place [near downtown], but they're a little far from me and close early. I wanted to get a jump on the project soon.
I'm fairly handy, I just need a little direction on where to go. Thanks CD

There's a big appliance parts store on Nakoma. It's called 1st Source Servall 101 E. Nakoma (210)366-1268 It's always looked busy when I've gone past.

The last time I needed an appliance part (that darn little fan in the freezer that always goes out), I just ordered online and paid for the two-day shipping because it was easier for me.

If there's one thing this town doesn't have a shortage of, it's appliance parts places. There's a fairly large one on 35 North bound side, just south of downtown. Name is escaping me right now.

But, it's really a case of letting your fingers do the walking. You can usually find it here. I've dealt with the bigger places, and when they didn't have something, I found a little "hole in the wall" place that did. It all depends on what part of town you are in and what you are looking for.

I ended up buying the part at the Appliance Part Company, as I work downtown. The service was good and the price very comparable to what I found online.
I'd recommend the place to anyone wanting to save some money on a DIY project.

They used to be Major Appliance parts or were just gobbled up by the big national outfit. They were on Hackberry north of Jones ave for decades. Actually had a couple satellite stores in more recent years.

First Source was formerly Central Supply who's former location was on St. Mary's just south of downtown. Central Supply was formerly known as Texas Parts or some knew as Washing Machine Parts house in King William (50's 60's).
