hmmmm.....no, I think it's relevant - this man thought so little of the citizens that rather than simply saying "sorry, prior commitment" he tried to fool 'em. Some early "smoke and mirrors", perhaps?

I listened the to the speech and it was a speech. Moderator cut: Off-Topic All the Castro cheerleaders on here should wait and see what office he goes after when he ends his reign as mayor.

Yeah, his brother sat in for him during a parade. That has to be the most nefarious deceptions ever conducted!

What, pray tell, was the big result of it all? How did either benefit?

Come up with something substantial and maybe I'd be convinced, but continuing to harp on this one incident from over seven years ago doesn't really convince anyone of anything!

I wasn't overly impressed with Castro's speech Moderator cut: Off-Topic

Without a doubt, they're grooming Castro....which is fine. But it's an obvious attempt to garner favor with the hispanic vote Moderator cut: National politics = Off-Topic for SA Forum Does Castro have potential? Perhaps - if you agree with him that the government should be ever-more involved in our daily lives.

He recently proposed a sales tax increase to pay for schools - that is NOT within the purview of the city. It's the constant blurring of the government's true job/duties that concerns myself and others.

People love to whine but those who want progress are moving forward without you on both the city level (some of you are not even from San Antonio proper so leave what happens to our schools to us because the State is not helping us and neither are you) and the national level.

Some of us that do not live in San Antonio proper are still going to be impacted by the mayor's proposed pre-k plan, and the associated tax hike. What that means is we would get to foot the bill for the program through things like higher tax rates on our CPS energy bills, but could not use the program, and have no representation on city council. Hmmmmmmmm taxation without representation.....if you remember your School House Rock, that is the very thing the founding fathers rejected.
