The only restaurant that comes close with good old traditional recipes is Little Italy.

Does anybody remember the main dessert at Naples? I think it was Tiramasu and it was always displayed in the dinning room. The owner would pour rum on it every time he walked by it, so by the end of the night, the pieces left were soaking in it.

They had an appetizer that we would always get. I can't remember the name, something like shrimp conjenial? It was little popcorn shrimp in a sauce baked in a half shell. I have not seen it anywhere since but it was delishious.

Naples, further down Broadway was Valerio's. I really miss Paletta's Deli on Recoletta.

Anyone remember the squid cassoulla(sp?) entree at Naples? As one of the snotty kids of SA's upper crust we ate there at least once a month for Sunday lunch. I've tried for years to recreate that taste, I can get close, but its just not the same.

I walked into Paletta's the day the new owners took over and told them not to change a thing, well we all know what happened......... I miss the Mama mia, sure hope Sonny has a sandwich ready for me on the other side

That's the one I was thinking of. Valerio's not Naples, but Valerio's.

Naples was a hang out for SA Symphony members. One of the sous chef's at Naples now has a cafe on Culebra called La Sorrentina. I've heard it's excellent.

Sorrento's in the strip mall where Satel's is located. Family owned, quite small and nice atmosphere.
