Crown of Life Preschool at 19291 Stone Oak Pkwy.
My son was graduated there. He is in middle school now. He can still remember his teachers in COL and says he had a great time in that school.

I recommend the Primrose School at the corner of Stone Oak Pkwy and Knights Cross. It is a chain of schools with high academic standards within a fun environment. Leader in Educational Child Care, Preschool - Primrose Schools I wanted to enroll my little one at that school site last year, but it was already full so I wound up taking her to the Primrose at Sonoma Ranch (near UTSA). By the end of the year my little one knew about fractions (halves, thirds), could write the alphabet, knew what sounds letters make (early reading), knew the names of seasons, days, months in English & Spanish, and could create simple bar graphs to jot down observations - to name a few. They also did science experiments like "what happens when you do ___ to ___". They did all of this in a fun environment of daily painting, role playing, reading time, construction toys, nap time, snacks and playground time. I have a relative who teaches 4-5 year olds in a working class neighborhood school and she was amazed at how much more Primrose kids learn throughout the year.
At $600/month for half-day or $800/month for a full day, the school might seem pricey, but it is money well spent for the education they get, plus the school is open from 7am till 6pm which is great for working parents.
The only drawback is that there is usually a waiting list and the classes can have as much as 24 students. If you visit a classroom (which they encourage), make sure your child's potential teacher and teacher's aide have good control over the class (after all they are 4-5). The Sonoma Ranch school only had about 15 kids and there is also now a new school on Huebner Rd. The staff and teachers at Sonoma Ranch are great with kid s and I'm sure its the same at the other branches.

Both my children attended St. Thomas Episcopal school, at 281/1604. An excellent curriculum (ABeka). You can choose half day, or full day (til 3). Extended care is also available until 6. For that many hours in a day, you probably want to consider daycares as well. Preschool class sizes are 18, with a teacher and assistant.

I also second the recommendation for Crown of Life. My children attended their summer program. I know that Stone Oak Presbyterian has a Mother's Day Out program, as does Abiding Presence (Lutheran).

Primrose and La Petite are daycares. Hence the 7am-6pm hours, and high tuition. I believe that Goddard is as well (I do know that it is also a franchise).

There are many, many options. You really need to go and visit, and determine what feels right for you and your child.

Default preschools in Stone oak

I received a mailing about a new Preschool in the Stone Oak area, right off Stone Oak Pkwy & Huebner Rd. it's The Children's Academy Of Stone Oak -- I called and spoke with the Owner and it is due to open in a couple of months-- the end of Oct or so. It is actually a school where the children will learn through play, songs art etc. I sent my registration form in because it is filling up fast it also stays open until 7 pm for working couples. The price was very reasonable! the phone no. is 210- 587-7462 they also have a wb site http://thechildrensacademysa.com/ hope this helps!!!
