Hi everyone,

Where are some good places to buy fresh corn tortillas in SA? Do any of you buy directly from the local factories or Mexican markets? Thanks for any info!

I buy the ones from HEB...our HEB Plus makes corn, flour and wheat daily!!!

Not all HEB's do, so tell us where you live and we can direct you to the closest one that does make them fresh!

Hey Paka, lived on the border and I find the HEB tortillas just as good or better. Right amount of thickness and fluffy

The tortillas @ Tinka Tako on Potranco (outside 1604) are my favorites. but I really can't remember ever having a bad tortilla in SA either.. just those seem to be a little better than the rest and they do sell them

Las Palapas makes a pretty good homemade corn tortilla. You have to specifically ask for them, though. If you just ask for corn tortillas you get the little flimsy packaged ones.

Fresh tortillas are one of my greatest joys. I was in SA in June, and found thick homemade tortillas in bag at a gas station mart. YES, I was blown away. I bought a pack too. They were yummy! It doesn't get any better! I can't wait to be a permanent resident! Thanks for all of the recommendations

Hiya Paka....

I live near 1604 and Guilbeau..... which HEB can supply me with fresh tortillas?
Good GAWD, this thread has me salivating ...

If I have really good FRESH tortillas, I like to pop a few at a time into the microwave, then slather them with BUTTER!!! oohhhhh, my GAWD....
and I JUST today made a new commitment with my 'eating plan' and was good about 95% of the day....
But I can plan on a treat down the road with these fresh tortillas.... HURRY< HURRY!!! ROFL!!!!!

I think all HEBs here sell them fresh and "warm" (not hot). Just make sure you dont' get the ones that are labeled by some company in the Phillippines (no offense to our Filipinos!) or some other country to cut costs.

Look for the ones with the label that says HEB FLOUR TORTILLAS MADE FRESH IN STORE DAILY.
