Someone slammed my Kitchen Range Oven Door real hard. (by that I mean really slalmmed it hard .... in anger) Yeah,... I know !

At the time it happened, the two racks were out because I had been cleaning it. Now when I try to replace the 2 racks back in, they will not slide in. I've taken them in and out many times before with no problem.

So I'm thinking... maybe the oven was knocked off balance or something?

I called a Repair Service and was told that since everything else works it is not a repair problem, so the Repair Tech will not be able to fix.

Any suggestions what I can do now???

Did they perhaps "tweak" the racks so that they're bent? Try laying them on the floor and see if they lay flat. They usually have a "lip" on the side that goes furthest into the stove to keep you from accidentally pulling them all the way out, but you should be able to see if they're relatively straight or not.

The racks were not in the oven when it got "slammed".
They were out of the oven, laying on my counter to be cleaned, so they did not get the jolt. It was the door of the emply oven that got slammed shut (really hard).

I have tried turning the racks over and also reversing them, in case I was putting them in the wrong way, (either backwards or upside down) Nothing works. I have also tried all the different levels /positions.

I have taken those racks out and put them back in many times before and they have always gone right back into place.

By not sliding in do you mean they bind as you try to slide them on the groves? If you could be more specific on where it may be hanging. I know that you've taken them out and back in many times, but are you sure they are not the type that you have to slide on the side groves all the way in at which point they drop into position. Mine are like that. Anyway, good luck.

hmmm....in that case, I'm stumped - because the door is square to the oven, so the slamming shouldn't have been able to have really done much to the frame itself.

Try this:
rub canola oil or peanut oil on the sides of the oven where the racks slide in. Peanut oil works best as it doesnt smoke at high temps and your racks will glide right along. Or put a little vegetable oil on the sides of the racks to make them slide easier.
Some oven rack you have to start at an angle before sliding in straight in, especially the racks that don't slide all the way out. It's a safety feature so you don't accidentally pull a hot rack and it's contents out onto your oven door.

I think I'd let whatever idiot thought slamming the oven door was going to solve anything fix it.

What a relief!!!
I put a little canola oil on each side of the oven, then angled and twisted the racks "just the right way" and they went back in place.

I've never had that kind of problem before. Of course since the door was slammed so hard I associated it with the problem. When the problem was probably just me and my stupidity. . . . LOL ... { but not so funny }

Thanks to every one for the suggestions and help!!!
