We are looking at moving to Salem Oregon from Chico.poing there the month of September...what are the safest neighborhoods in Salem? Is Keizer. Dallas or Silverton much nicer communities? and why?

We are an older couple but have a Pet Sitting Business that we go in and out of houses 24/7!!

Thanks,

Rose

You can go on CrimeReports.com and see live crime data. The Salem PD shares it all with that site. "safe" is a very subjective term and is different from person to person. Go online and determine what safe means to you. Personally, there isn't anywhere in Salem that I am uncomfortable or feel unsafe. I'm in and out of run down houses all the time so they don't scare me, but just the mere sight of a dilapidated house scares others.

We have gangs if that is what you are asking. Independence has some wannabe 13 to 14 year old hoods. Dallas has no gang activity that I know of but the pet sitting business is saturated. Kiezer may be more safe than Salem, but is also a higher percentage of rentals. The bad areas are spread throughout the community and not really concentrated.
