Consider Roseville. There are a lot of amenities and services here. It's very close to Orangevale. There are presently 160 2-3 bdrm homes for sale between 200 and 250K. Nice homes too; I'm not saying big, just nice.
Check out metrolistmls.com. Roseville is in Placer County.

I have been to Roseville a couple of times and did like it. I think its worth a second look.
